Brief personal profile:

Aniyamuzaala is a 27 year old trained professional in economic Planning and Management from Kyambogo University, Kampala, Uganda. James is also a disability rights activist with hearing impairment. He became hard of hearing at the age of 8 years during his primary education. He has worked / volunteered with various Civil Society Organizations nationally and internationally which include National Union of Disabled persons of Uganda, East African community Youth organization (EACYO) and International Federation of Hard of hearing young people (IFHOHYP) respectively. He is a specialist in social research and project planning and Management for social development projects. He has adequate knowledge and experience in planning, designing, implementing, management and evaluation of social development projects, strategic planning for Civil Society Organizations especially in areas which have to do with disability, poverty and human rights. He has been working in the disability movement since 2003.

Education history:

Aniyamuzaala attained a second class honours bachelor’s degree of Arts in Economics from Kyambogo University which he studied from 2005 to 2010. He holds a certificate of Human rights From Columbia University in the city of New York in 2010. Prior to this, he studied  his primary from Nkozi Demonstration school and secondary school education at St.Bruno Sserunkuma SSS Ggoli and St Lawerence from where he secured his Primary leaving Certificate (1990 – 1997), ordinary level (1998 – 2001) and advanced Level (2002 – 2004) Certificates of education respectively. Aniyamuzaala also holds other professional qualifications including Peer education from Kyambogo University (2006).James has computer skills ; Microsoft word, Excel, PowerPoint  and internet explorer.

Work history:

Currently, James is working as the Country programme coordinator of African Youth with Disability Network-Uganda chapter .Prior to this he has been the Human Rights and economic empowerment programme coordinator with Youth with Physical Disability Development Forum (2009-May2011). He is also the regional Secretary General of East African community Youth organization which is a network of non-governmental youth organization in the East African region (2007-2012). He worked as a Volunteer with National Union of Disabled persons of Uganda (2004 – 2005) .He is the president of Uganda Federation of Hard of Hearing (2008-2013) and a member of International Federation of Hard of Hearing Young people. James was one of the speakers of the 2011 July UN High Level Meeting on Youth. James has been also invited to present papers in different countries on disability and youth rights issues. Presented a paper on the inclusion of youth with disabilities in National HIV/AIDS programs, a case study of Uganda during the XVIII International Aids Conference, Vienna, Austria July 2010.Panelist on Disability and HIV/AIDS: An Emerging Development Concern, United Nations Headquarters, and December 2010.Panelist on Mainstreaming Disability in Youth programmes during the UN High Level Meeting on Youth on 25th July 2011.
